New Baby!

Madison Elizabeth was born July 23, 2010 at 9:25pm. She weighed 6lbs 9oz and 20.5 inches. What a tiny little peanut! I waited at the hospital all night with Jon's family. We ALL entertained ourselves with our Droids! Good thing Uncle Bob brought his charger! A couple different phones spent some time charging up. We finally got to meet the new baby around 11pm. When proud Papa came out wearing scrubs, I knew there was a change in plans. It seems that little miss Maddie is already following in her mommy's foot steps and had her cord wrapped around her neck. Kellie ended up needing a C-section. She's a little disappointed, but everyone is healthy and in the end that's what matters, right? I let Grandma hold her first, but I was sure anxious to get my hands on the little love bug! I stayed at the hospital until 2 am! I wanted to give Kellie a hand at her second attempt at nursing.

This afternoon, I took the kids up to meet her. Jameson was excited to see a new little baby. He rubbed her head and gave her a kiss. He then found every single light switch in the room and gave us a light show! And of course, we HAD to take a picture of Delilah & Maddie! :-)

Quiet Week...

So, I guess it's been a quiet week at the *B* house. There hasn't been much to post about...until today, that is. :-)

First of all, I joined Weight Watchers. It has worked well for me in the past. I really need to lose some weight, but I don't want to do anything drastic to affect my milk supply. Weight Watchers has a plan for nursing mothers, so hopefully I can lose the weight gradually (but consistently) and keep my supply up. Oh and the BEST news? When I weighed in for the first time, I weighed 10lbs less than I thought I did!

Secondly, I got a text this morning that Kellie's (my BFF, former roomie, a Maid of Honor at my wedding, married to my cousin Jon, etc, etc, etc...) water broke. EEEEEEK! I couldn't be more excited! Delilah is excited to meet her new bestie!

Dinner in Lincoln

Last night we went to Lincoln and had dinner with Great-Grandma Bennett (Gigi), Great-Uncle Steve, and Katie. Jameson had fun running around and looking at all of the fun things Gigi has in her apartment. He liked pointing out all of the mommies and babies of Gigi's figurines. He took a walk outside with Katie to see the fish in the water. Jameson figured out quickly that if he asked nicely, Uncle Steve would get him more juice!

Delilah was her usual happy self. She was laying on the floor, squealing, and showing off her rolling skills. She liked all of the attention! Gigi got to hold her for a while and they had a great conversation together! :-)

The kids had so much fun that they wore themselves out! D was asleep as soon as we hit the interstate. Jameson didn't sleep in the car, but he was ready for bed as soon as we got home.

Cloth Diapers!

As most of you know, I started dabbling in cloth diapers when J was a baby. I wanted to save some money and reduce the amount of chemicals exposed to his skin. Oh yeah, and something about it being better for the environment. :-) I bought a bunch of BumGenius 3.0 pocket diapers. I decided on them because they seemed the most like disposable diapers. Russell made me get mostly white - he's so practical! :-) Here is a picture of Jameson in his BG 3.0s at 3 months, isn't he cute??
We used them pretty regularly until he turned 6 months and started eating solid food. Then the diapers weren't so easy to clean anymore and I had trouble keeping Russell motivated to use cloth.

Well, about a month or 2 ago, I went to a cloth diaper party hosted by Top to Bottom Baby Boutique. Prior to this, I didn't realize there was a place locally that I could buy cloth diapers and accessories!! I went to the party and learned about the different types of diapers. I was able to ask all the questions I had and all of them out. I bought some different types to try on the kids. They are so soft and adorable! So, cloth diapers have definitely made a comeback in our house. I can already see the benefits! With two in diapers, we were going through an INSANE amount of diapers! But since the revival of the cloth diaper, we haven't bought a new pack of diapers for D and we've bought just one for J - we're not as good about keeping him in cloth. But, J is quicker to tell me when he needs his diaper changed (hopefully that will help him prepare for potty training!) and he likes to pick out which print of diaper he wants to wear. We have FAR fewer leaks at night. In fact, 2 nights ago, J's overnight diaper wasn't dry yet, so I put him in a disposable and we had a massive leak! Oh, and when I get tired of the styles or prints that we have, I can re-sell them and get something new!

I recently ventured into the area of cloth wipes. It just makes sense if you are already using cloth diapers! I bought a bunch of MonkeySnuggle wipes with one of their grab bags. I like them a lot. They have fleece on one side (super soft!) and terry cloth on the other (for those times you need to scrub a little). So, for anyone wanting to try them out - Top to Bottom Baby Boutique is currently doing a giveaway for MonkeySnuggles cloth wipes. Head on over to Robyn's blog and see the details on how to enter!

5 Months!

Holy moly! Baby D is 5 months old! I can't believe in one months time we will be starting solids. Seriously, where did the time go?? She has become so much FUN to have around! Her bubbly personality is really starting to show through. She is "talking", laughing and squealing so much! Russell is excited because she has starting laughing for him recently. He was jealous because for a while she would only laugh for ME! (This is the opposite of Jameson!). She is just such a sweet little girl. :-)

Dinner with Graham Cracker!

The kids and I dinner with Grandma Debby this evening. We had lots of fun and Jameson ate LOTS of pizza! It had been a while since we've been able to see her. We're hoping to be able to go swimming sometime soon at her pool!

Fun day with Nana Sandy and Papa Bruce!

Jameson and Delilah spent the afternoon with Nana Sandy and Papa Bruce. They got to go swimming at the pool. They said Jameson had a blast, but Delilah didn't quite have as much fun. Jameson also got to spend the night with Nana and Papa! The next morning I asked him where he spent the night and he said "Nana home" and then I asked him what else he did with Nana and Papa, he said "wa-wa-wa." I think he's getting this talking thing down! :-)

Tummy Bug?

There may or may not be a tummy bug going around our house! Jameson has woken up the last two mornings crying and pointing into his mouth. This morning I gave him some water thinking maybe his throat hurt. Russell took him downstairs to start breakfast and by the time I made it downstairs, Russell was cleaning off Jameson's booster seat. He said he threw up all of the water I gave him. Jameson didn't really eat much breakfast, he got really whiny, and wanted me to hold him. He then threw up all over me. Ah, the power of a mother's love! :-)

At this point I made J a Dr's appointment and decided to call in to work. Then I took a shower. While I was in the shower, Jameson laid down and fell asleep on the couch. And of course he woke up feeling fine. I still took him to the Dr because I wanted them to check his throat, since he woke up crying. So, of course, today was the first day of Dr. Zimmerman's maternity leave. There was only one Dr. seeing patients and I originally thought it was the one I don't like but, thankfully, I was wrong!

The Dr, of course, could not find anything wrong with J. *I* think (you know, Dr. Mom) he had some drainage and his tummy is sensitive to it. He had a similar, but worse, episode while Russell was in Texas. The Dr said that could be it and recommended that I continue to give him allergy medicine.

I get home and a while later Delilah spit up all down my shirt. I was not having a good day. Later that evening, Russell - who also called in - and I were watching a movie. We were complaining about our upset tummys (mine hurt because I ate too much). All of a sudden, Russell jumps up and runs into the bathroom to throw up. Soooooo, I think there was a tummy bug going around our house! Fortunately, I felt fine and everyone seems to be doing better.

Happy 4th of July!!

Our 4th started with rain all morning, fortunately it cleared up just in time to start our festivities on the circle. Russell started the party around 3pm, when our neighbor, Jim, came over and they had a drink together. This year, we invited more guest than ever! We alone, had 5 couples and their kids. The chairs were lined up nearly all the way around the circle! Russell was quite the host. There were lots of friends, good food and hopefully everyone had fun (although I think some of us had MORE fun than others...).

Jameson wasn't his usual self. He was really clingy, bu he didn't act sick otherwise. He did go to bed around 9om, so he missed most of the big fireworks. :-(

The fireworks show was SPECTACULAR. They said next year, we're charging $5 admission. :-) Afterwards there as a haze over the circle, it couldn't have been good for our lungs, but we didn't have to worry about mosquitoes! Then, the guys got to shovel all of the debris into the middle of the circle and burn it in the fire pit (they've been looking forward to this all year!). We had a few surprises from the fire pit, but the funny thing is there was too much leftover! They didn't get it all burned before everyone went to bed! Oh and remember my comment about some of us having more fun than others? Well, Russell fell asleep in his chair in the middle of the circle! He didn't stay asleep long enough for the neighbors to marker him, but around 3:30am I had to tell him it was time to go inside.

We must have had lots of fun, because we didn't take any pictures!!

Second annual grandkids picture

We spent the afternoon at Papa Terry's house. It was nice because the entire family was there. The kids had fun playing in the water outside. We ate a delicious dinner of pork cutlets, hamburgers and hot dogs grilled by Papa Terry and potluck side dishes. The cousins all got together for the second annual fourth of July pictures. It was a fun day!

Jameson tried out a BIG bike! :-)

Fun in the water with all of the cousins (the ones who can walk, anyway!)

Delilah with Papa Terry!

"Wa-wa-wa!"

Sprinklers are fun!

Are YOU having as much fun as I am??

Thanks Uncle Tyler and Aunt Nichole for bringing extra toys!
